Basketball Recap: St. Anthony Takes a Loss

St. Anthony was the 58-20 winner over La Salle when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Anthony Saints were beaten by the La Salle Lancers 59-31 on Thursday. The Saints were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.

St. Anthony's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kadence Lloyd, who posted nine points, and Laila Hughes, who had 11 points and three steals. Hughes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Casey Higgins was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine boards for La Salle. The dominant performance also gave Higgins a new career-high in steals (seven). Another player making a difference was Kaden Cortes, who put up 11 points.

St. Anthony now has a losing record at 10-11. As for La Salle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-4.

While St. Anthony had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
