Soccer Game Preview: Lovett vs. Westminster

Lovett hasn't had much luck against Westminster recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lovett lost 6-1 to Woodward Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lovett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Woodward Academy are ranked 18th).

Lovett's goal came courtesy of Hill Mauldin, who's now up to 19 this season.

Meanwhile, Westminster managed to keep up with Pace Academy until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wildcats came up short against the Knights, falling 4-0.

Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Lovett, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Lovett couldn't quite get it done against Westminster when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
