Soccer Game Preview: Hillgrove vs. Pope

The Hillgrove Hawks will take on the Pope Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Hillgrove is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Jackson County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Pope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against River Ridge, falling 3-0. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Greyhounds struggled afterwards.

Hillgrove's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Pope, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Hillgrove skirted past Pope 2-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillgrove since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
