Soccer Game Preview: Steele vs. Hoover

The Steele Comets will head out to square off against the Hoover Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Steele barely beat Vermilion the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets put the hurt on the Sailors with a sharp 7-1 win last Saturday. It was an even better day for Benjamin Thompson as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Hoover hasn't lost a match since September 9th, a trend which continued in their latest game two weeks ago. Their defense stepped up to hand Lake a 4-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Hoover's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Lake are ranked 397th).

Hoover has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-3-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven contests. As for Steele, their win bumped their record up to 11-4-2.
