Preview: Gateway Gators vs. Armstrong River Hawks
The Gateway Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Armstrong River Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gateway has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Armstrong will arrive with seven straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-18, which was the final score in Gateway's tilt against Woodland Hills on Friday.
Meanwhile, Armstrong was able to grind out a solid win over Hampton last Friday, taking the game 39-31. Given Armstrong's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Hampton is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gateway dropped their record down to 2-17 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Armstrong, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Gateway came up short against Armstrong in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 57-45. Can Gateway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
