Basketball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside saw some tournament action on Thursday. They were dealt a 67-32 defeat at the hands of the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 920th, while the Mighty Arabs are ranked 459th).

Lakeside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aeiress Hearn, who posted nine points. Miyah Reed was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakeside and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Coachella Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Lakeside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Stevenson at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Stevenson will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Lakeside surely won't give up without a fight. As for Coachella Valley, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against La Quinta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coachella Valley's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so La Quinta's offense will have their work cut out for them.
