Basketball Recap: United Lions vs. Cambria Heights Highlanders
It was a good run, but United unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cambria Heights Highlanders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-36 back in December of 2024.

United's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly McGinnis, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 25 points. McGinnis' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Olivia Henning was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.
Sienna Kirsch was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 en route to 22 points along with eight boards and four steals for Cambria Heights. Kirsch is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Maelyn Dutko, who posted 13 points.
United's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Cambria Heights, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
United will challenge Conemaugh Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. United is facing Conemaugh Valley at the right time seeing as Conemaugh Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Cambria Heights has already played their next matchup, a 67-18 win against Ferndale on the 27th.
