Soccer Game Preview: Monroe vs. Santee

The Monroe Vikings will face off against the Santee Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Middle College by a score of 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

They hit Middle College with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Laura Diaz, Vanessa Cuellar, and April Duran.

Meanwhile, Santee waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 3-0 victory. Give the Falcons' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Santee, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Santee in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
