Softball Recap: Denver North's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Denver North dropped down to 15-3 on Thursday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Denver South Ravens. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ravens earlier this season, when they won 13-6.

Sophia Guerrero made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Denver South, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Denver South's side, Olivia Gibson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. With that strong performance, Gibson is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Emma Gibson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Olive Davis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Denver North will square off against Denver East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Angels have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Denver South, they have already played their next matchup, a 14-0 defeat against Horizon on the 4th.
