Basketball Recap: Waterford Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 12-12 at halftime, Waterford was not quite Turlock Christian's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Turlock Christian Eagles. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Turlock Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Faith Hayes out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. Hayes has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Betts, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Waterford now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Turlock Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterford and Millennium will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Turlock Christian, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Turlock Christian Eagles face off against the Vacaville Christian Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vacaville Christian's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Turlock Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
