Soccer Game Preview: Veterans vs. Columbus

The Veterans Warhawks will face off against the Columbus Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Veterans is returning to their home pitch after beating Perry on theirs, despite the fact Perry has dominated at home this season. The Warhawks had just enough and edged out the Panthers 2-1 on Tuesday.

Philipe Coelho and David Drake scored both of Veterans' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, Columbus' game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Spencer by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Columbus' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Spencer are ranked 309th).

Veterans' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those seven games. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
