Volleyball Recap: McCollum Takes a Loss

McCollum lost against Highlands on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cowboys fell just short of the Owls by a score of 2-1. While the Cowboys didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Owls 25-21 in the first set.

While McCollum ultimately came up short, they really made Highlands work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Brooke Romo paced McCollum's offense, picking up eight kills. Romo got some help from Ariannah Soto and her 12 assists. Finally, Romo was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

McCollum has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season. As for Highlands, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

McCollum has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Southside on the 26th. As for Highlands, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Brackenridge on the 26th.
