Baseball Recap: Westside Comes Up Short

Westside was the 11-7 winner over Baldwin when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves on Friday.

Westside got a good showing from DeAntre Charles, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Charles has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Tristan Williamson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Trenton Williamson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Westside's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Baldwin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-14 record this season.

Westside and Baldwin will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Patriots see the field they'll take on Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Baldwin, their break will end when they face Northeast at 5:00 p.m. on the 14th.
