Preview: Ferndale Wildcats vs. Fortuna Huskies
Ferndale has been on the road for nine straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. The Ferndale Wildcats and the Fortuna Huskies will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Ferndale made easy work of Clear Lake and carried off a 41-17 win.
Ferndale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tinnley Pidgeon, who scored 12 points. The contest was Pidgeon's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Ellsmore, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Fortuna entered their tilt with Mt. Shasta with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Fortuna blew past Mt. Shasta, posting a 70-24 win on the road. That 70-24 margin sets a new team best for Fortuna this season.
Ferndale pushed their record up to 6-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fortuna, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Ferndale strolled past Fortuna in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 44-29. Will Ferndale repeat their success, or does Fortuna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
