Softball Recap: Ware County Takes a Loss

Ware County extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 3-10. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the King's Ridge Christian Tigers. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

As for King's Ridge Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.

For King's Ridge Christian's part, they got a great performance from Annabel Terry as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Terry has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Greiner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Emmie Fratesi also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coming up, Ware County will challenge Decatur at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Gators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for King's Ridge Christian, they will take on Gilmer in a tournament on Friday.
