Basketball Recap: Charleroi Comes Up Short

Charleroi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 55-33 to the Waynesburg Central Raiders. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Leading Waynesburg Central to victory were Peyton Cowell and Avery Davis. Cowell almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten boards, and nine steals, while Davis dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 steals. Davis' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Smith, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points.

Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Waynesburg Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Charleroi has already played their next match (against Washington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Waynesburg Central has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Fort Cherry.
