California high school baseball strikeout leaders: Jobe Olson of Laton leads list

By Mitch Stephens Apr 27, 2022, 11:30am

Three-sport standout struck out 18 in a game and at least 10 in six other games.

Jobe Olson can only do so much. The senior pitcher and three-sport athlete for Laton leads California high school baseball in strikeouts with 123 in just 53 innings pitched.

The 6-foot-2 standout sports a sub-.500 record at 4-6 but with all those strikeouts and a 2.77 ERA he can't be blamed. He's struck out at least 10 batters seven times, with a high of 18 in a 4-2 win over Orosi. He allowed one hit and walked just one in that game.

Olson has allowed only 28 hits and walked 29. He's one of 10 California pitchers as of Monday to have recorded at least 100 strikeouts in 2022. Olson is followed closely by Colusa senior Ethan Lay, who has 117 strikeouts in 61.2 innings.
