Basketball Recap: San Luis Takes a Loss

San Luis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Kofa Kings on the road by a 41-25 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Sidewinders have lost by exactly 16 points.

It was another big night for Amani Montiel, who went 9 of 16 en route to 24 points along with six steals and five rebounds for Kofa. That makes it six consecutive games in which Montiel has scored at least a third of Kofa's points. Another player making a difference was Madison DeBoe, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five boards.

San Luis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Kofa, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

San Luis will welcome Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kofa, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cibola is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.
