Baseball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 10-13 to make it seven. They came up short against the Dodge County Indians, falling 12-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-6 on Tuesday.

Kenshawn Williams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

As for Dodge County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Dodge County's side, Brandon White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Dodge County got a big performance out of Kain Mincey, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Jake Collins, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will face off against Howard at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dodge County, they will take on Dublin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
