Soccer Game Preview: Burlington vs. Washington

The Burlington Grayhounds will head out to challenge the Washington Demons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burlington will be strutting in after a win while Washington will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Burlington turned things around against Keokuk last Monday. They never let the Chiefs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering Burlington's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, Washington was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against Fort Madison, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for Washington in their meetings with Fort Madison: they've now lost four in a row.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Burlington, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.

Burlington got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Washington by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grayhounds since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
