Softball Recap: Gilmer Bobcats vs. Calhoun Yellow Jackets
Gilmer lost against Calhoun back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bobcats fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 7-6. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Braley Stewart put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Stewart was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Makayla Martin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Sarah Dale was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Gilmer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Calhoun, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record.
