Basketball Game Preview: Northwood Timberwolves vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars

The Northwood Timberwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Northwood is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since November 26, 2024 on Monday. They were beaten by Buena Park 89-26. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 928th, while the Coyotes are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They lost 48-22 to Mission Viejo.

Capistrano Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Northwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Northwood beat Capistrano Valley 40-33 in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Capistrano Valley's Leah Manning, who went 11 of 14 on her way to 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
