Basketball Recap: Mica Mountain Comes Up Short

Mica Mountain saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 76-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rancho Rams. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 96th in Arizona, while the Rams are ranked 16th in Nevada).

Jakoi Lide continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rancho, going 18 for 27 on his way to 44 points and five assists. Lide has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Ahmad Koroma was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Mica Mountain and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Rancho, their record now sits at 9-5.

Mica Mountain will head out to face off against Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon del Oro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Mica Mountain likes a good challenge. As for Rancho, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-35 victory against ALA - Queen Creek on the 4th.
