Recap: San Marcos Knights vs. Poway Titans

The San Marcos Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 58-43 to Poway. While losing is never fun, San Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Poway is ranked 93rd).

When it comes to explaining why San Marcos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyra Quinn. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with three blocks and two steals. Quinn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wiedemann, who scored 16 points along with two blocks.

It was another big night for Katelyn Johnson, who scored 30 points for Poway. Mackenzie Parsons was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

San Marcos' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-12. As for Poway, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Marcos will take on Rancho Bernardo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Bernardo is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Poway, they will be playing at home against Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday.
