Murrieta Valley is 8-1-1 against Murrieta Mesa since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will take on the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Murrieta Valley has three straight wins, Murrieta Mesa has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

The victory was all the more spectacular given the Nighthawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa lost 4-1 to Chaparral on Friday. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no goals scored by either team from that point forward.

Murrieta Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those five games. As for Murrieta Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Murrieta Valley took their win against Murrieta Mesa when the teams last played on January 10th by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murrieta Valley since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
