Recap: Juniata Valley Hornets vs. West Branch Warriors
If the Juniata Valley Hornets were feeling good off their 56-13 takedown of the Curwensville Golden Tide last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Juniata Valley took a 50-36 bruising from West Branch on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Juniata Valley in their matchups with West Branch: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Juniata Valley still got an impressive performance from Kassidy Watson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. Amelia Russell was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
West Branch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erin Godin led the charge by scoring 15 points. That's the first time this season that Godin scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jenna Mertz, who scored 15 points.
Juniata Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for West Branch, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Juniata Valley will take on Everett at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Branch, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th.
