Baseball Game Preview: Hawkinsville Red Devils vs. Crawford County Eagles

The Hawkinsville Red Devils will challenge the Crawford County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hawkinsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Ten must be Hawkinsville's lucky number: they beat East Laurens with that score not once but twice last Thursday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Landon Johnson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Hawkinsville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Harlem Phillips, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Crawford County was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bowdon.

Crawford County's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Hawkinsville, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Hawkinsville suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Crawford County in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
