Soccer Recap: Westminster Comes Up Short

Westminster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garden Grove Argonauts. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 701st, while the Argonauts are ranked 264th).

Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for Garden Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-3 record this season.

Westminster is taking a road trip to take on Fullerton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fullerton will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Westminster surely won't give up without a fight. As for Garden Grove, they will look to defend their home pitch on Monday against Calvary Chapel at 5:15 p.m. Garden Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.
