Basketball Recap: Hoover's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Hoover came into Thursday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 42-38 victory over the Muir Mustangs on Thursday. For the Tornados, this counts as revenge for the 69-28 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoover to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aileen Nazaryan, who posted 14 points. Iren Musayelyan was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Hoover's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-9. As for Muir, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Hoover has already played their next game (against Crescenta Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Muir won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Glendale at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Muir is facing Glendale at the right time seeing as Glendale is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
