Softball Recap: Lincoln County Comes Up Short

If Lincoln County was riding high fresh off their 12-1 takedown of Thomson last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Devils came up short against the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers on Monday, falling 18-4. The Red Devils have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Kylah Turner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Destiny Turner, who earned three runs and one stolen base.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Briarwood Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln County will head out to square off against Lake Oconee Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briarwood Academy, they will challenge Bulloch Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.12 runs per game on average), something the Buccaneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
