Basketball Recap: Seniaah Simms' Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Diego over Torrey Pines

San Diego easily dispatched Del Norte on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cavers fell just short of the Torrey Pines Falcons by a score of 48-45 on Tuesday.

San Diego lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Seniaah Simms, who posted 11 points. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 46.9% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jewel Parker, who had eight points.

Torrey Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charley Pegg led the charge by going 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points and eight boards. That's the most points Pegg has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzie Dieter, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

San Diego's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Torrey Pines, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

San Diego has already played their next contest, a 62-33 win against Bonita Vista on the 29th. As for Torrey Pines, they will host Granite Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
