Baseball Recap: Sumter County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Westover on Friday, Sumter County came back down to earth. The Panthers lost 11-5 to the Monroe Golden Tornadoes on Monday. The Panthers have struggled against the Golden Tornadoes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Terkavian Rush was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted four or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Avery, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Sumter County's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Monroe, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Sumter County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-2 victory against Mitchell County on the 18th. As for Monroe, they will square off against Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
