Soccer Game Preview: Canyon Crest Academy vs. La Costa Canyon

The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens will head out to face off against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Canyon Crest Academy took on Torrey Pines on Friday. Canyon Crest Academy fell just short of Torrey Pines by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Falcons are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in January, La Costa Canyon was forced to settle for a draw on Wednesday. They and Carlsbad finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw.

La Costa Canyon's goal came courtesy of McKay Gresik, who's now up to two this season.

Canyon Crest Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. La Costa Canyon's draw gives them a new season record of 5-5-3.
