Softball Recap: Lambert Takes a Loss

Lambert extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Forsyth Wolverines. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lambert saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reagan Young, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Payton Yi was another, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

As for West Forsyth, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On West Forsyth's side, the team relied heavily on Maren Moskau, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sara Coleman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

While Lambert had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
