Softball Preview: Cartersville Hurricanes vs. Woodland Wildcats
The Cartersville Hurricanes will head out on the road to take on the Woodland Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cartersville will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Cartersville barely beat Murray County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hurricanes put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. Considering the Hurricanes have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Presley Crabbe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lakiaya Banks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Kinsey Woodard was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Cartersville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Woodland fell victim to Hart County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Cartersville's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Cartersville's way against Woodland in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Cartersville made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
