The Newport Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight defeat. They fell 33-23 to Juniata. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Newport of the 49-19 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Juniata's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariska Beward led the charge by scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Regan Lowrey was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.

Newport has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Juniata, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Newport will be playing at home against Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Juniata does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
