Softball Recap: Bellevue East Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Bellevue East won the last time they faced Lincoln Northeast and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chieftains never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Chieftains have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alisha Mcmurtry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Bellevue East got a big performance out of Karleigh Rowley, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ariana Wells, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Bellevue East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast only posted an OBP of .062.

Bellevue East pushed their record up to 21-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

Bellevue East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will host Fremont at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
