Baseball Game Preview: St. Mary's Academy Bobcats vs. Rock Springs Christian Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, St. Mary's Academy will face off against Rock Springs Christian Academy. The Bobcats will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

St. Mary's Academy fell victim to Rock Springs Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 16-0 to the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bobcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Rock Springs Christian Academy's part, Brandt Washington and Landon Goddard made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Washington pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Goddard didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Washington scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Goddard scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Goddard a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rock Springs Christian Academy let Jakob Hammett and Liam Buice run wild. Hammett scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Buice scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Hammett posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Allen McCook, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory (which was Rock Springs Christian Academy's seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
