Volleyball Recap: Mercer County Golden Eagles vs. Alleman Pioneers

With a playoff game on the line, Mercer County rose to the challenge on Monday. They came out on top against the Alleman Pioneers by a score of 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The victory didn't come easy: Alleman scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-21.

Molly Hofmann paced Mercer County's offense, picking up seven kills. Hofmann got some help from Natalie Thomson and her 13 assists.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Megan Hulke, who had five kills, five digs, and a block. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Wood, who had nine digs and six kills.

Mercer County moved to 20-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Alleman, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Mercer County has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Riverdale on the 29th. Alleman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
