While Hapeville Charter put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. Hapeville Charter put the hurt on KIPP Atlanta Collegiate with a sharp 16-0 win. Considering the Hornets have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

J Colbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on S Johnson, who scored two runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of D Weaver, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Hapeville Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as KIPP Atlanta Collegiate only posted an OBP of .364.

Hapeville Charter pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
