Limestone has gone 8-2 against Pekin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rockets will welcome the Dragons at 7:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Limestone came up short against Metamora and fell 6-3.
Evan Daxenbichler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Pekin never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Olympia on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Spartans. That nine-run margin sets a new team best for the Dragons this season.
Owen Sanders and Kolby Stout did most of the damage at the plate: Sanders went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Stout went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Sanders a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hess, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Pekin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Pekin's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-18. As for Limestone, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Limestone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pekin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Limestone got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Pekin by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
