Fruita Monument extended their winning streak to nine on Tuesday, bumping them up to 14-3. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Montrose Red Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 two weeks ago.

Teagan Clements spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fruita Monument's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Payton Stephens, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another was Addison Hopper, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.

As for Montrose, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Montrose's side, they also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Bentley Schiller gave up four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

Looking ahead, Fruita Monument will face off against Palisade at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Montrose, they will square off against Gunnison at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.19 runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
