It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fruita Monument ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Montrose Red Hawks. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Teagan Clements spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fruita Monument saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Stephens, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Addison Hopper was another, going 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.

Fruita Monument's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Montrose, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.

Fruita Monument has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Palisade on the 1st. As for Montrose, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 victory against Gunnison on the 1st.
