Softball Recap: Lovejoy Wildcats vs. Northgate Vikings
Lovejoy dropped to 8-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 16-0 to the Northgate Vikings. Considering the last time the Wildcats couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
As for Northgate, their record now sits at 19-6. Considering they have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Northgate's part, Savannah Chitnis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Chitnis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laney Oswalt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Addy Clark was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Lovejoy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northgate, they are taking a road trip to challenge Whitewater at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
