Football Recap: Avondale Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Avondale extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by the Lutheran North Mustangs and fell 50-7. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Avondale saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryan Collins rushed for 138 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

As for Lutheran North, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average this season.

Camden Kubik had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, and also threw for 149 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes.

Avondale and Lutheran North will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Yellowjackets are set to square off against their familiar foe Pontiac at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lutheran North will face off against rival Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
