Football Game Preview: Amherst County Lancers vs. Jefferson Forest Cavaliers + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Amherst County Lancers and the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Amherst County will be strutting in after a victory while Jefferson Forest will be coming in after a defeat.

While Amherst County's win against Brookville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bees 24-21. The Lancers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The critical scores for Amherst County came from Jamerson Daniel, Kenyon Thompson, and Wyatt Seay.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Forest didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty Christian last Friday and fell 22-19. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Amherst County will have to keep a close watch on Cam Foxx and Xander Coleman, a pair of players who had a big impact on Jefferson Forest's prior game. Foxx rushed for 58 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while Coleman rushed for 28 yards and one score.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jefferson Forest fell to 4-1. As for Amherst County, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Amherst County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jefferson Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 257.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Amherst County came up short against Jefferson Forest in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 38-31. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
