The Windsor Wizards will face off against the Lutheran Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Windsor sitting on four straight victories and Lutheran on 15.
Windsor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Severance get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wizards, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kylie Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Gabriela Wagner was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Lutheran sidestepped Air Academy for a 4-3 victory.
Annie Schroeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Faries, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Brightman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Windsor, their victory bumped their record up to 25-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Windsor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
