Softball Recap: Riverwood Finds Home Field Redemption Against Sprayberry

There's no place like home for Riverwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets with a sharp 9-3 victory on Wednesday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

May Weis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lydia Reese, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jaren Glenn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run.

Riverwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Riverwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Sprayberry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
