Recap: Coalinga Horned Toads vs. McLane Highlanders
After losing to the McLane Highlanders the last time they met, the Coalinga Horned Toads decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Coalinga enjoyed a cozy 47-33 win over McLane on Wednesday. Given Coalinga's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while McLane is ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coalinga's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Love, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The matchup was Love's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julia Gressman, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals.
Coalinga's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for McLane, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coalinga will challenge Kerman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McLane, they will head out on the road to face off against Fresno Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Fresno Christian is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
