Soccer Game Preview: Solon vs. Howland

The Solon Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Howland Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Solon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Solon's offense. They came up short against Brecksville-Broadview Heights last Tuesday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Solon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Brecksville-Broadview Heights are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Howland hasn't lost a match since September 11th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They and Boardman finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Howland's first draw of the season.

Solon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. With that draw, Howland's record moves to 14-1-1.

Solon beat Howland by a goal in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
